Italian heirloom believed to be responsible for the start of the tomato canning industry in California. Don’t be fooled by the name though, as this tomato is much more than just a canner. It bears large harvests of smooth, flattened, intensely red tomatoes which are absolutely delicious. They weigh from 8 to 10 ounces and have a very good, rich and complex flavor. Fruit is very juicy yet full of solid meat, making it fine for canning but just as good for eating off the vine. Indeterminate. 80 days.
